Privacy notice

National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) is a not-for-profit membership association providing services to day nurseries and early years or childcare providers.

This Privacy Statement explains our practices, including your choices, regarding the collection, use and disclosure of certain information, including your personal information by National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA).

Collection of information

In accordance with EU and UK data protection law, we receive and store information that you provide to us on our awards website and in NDNA company electronic files such as:

  • Your name, email address, nursery address, postcode, contact telephone number, nursery data, additional information in support of your submission and your parent/carer comments. We collect this information only when you enter it on our website
  • Information you have previously supplied to us if you are an NDNA member, as part of your membership agreement.

Use of your information

We use your information to process your award(s) entries and enable us to run our awards competition.

We will only contact your personal email address if we have your consent to do so. We collect this consent when you enter an award. You can opt out of communications at any time by emailing privacy@ndna.org.uk

Information collected by us will be used by NDNA only and not passed to third parties except where stated below unless you have given consent, except where the product or service is delivered by a third party on our behalf, or we are obliged by law to do so. If those third parties are based outside the EU, we will ensure that their data processing activities are compliant with EU law. We will only keep data for as long as necessary.

Disclosure of information

We disclose your information for certain purposes and to third parties, as described below:

  • Details of shortlisted nurseries are disclosed to our judging panel for the purpose of choosing winners. The judging panel is made up of NDNA employees, board members and external early years sector consultants.
  • Details of winning nurseries and/or their employees are disclosed to our awards sponsors for the purposes of prize presentations.
  • Details of shortlisted and winning nurseries and/or their employees are published on the NDNA website, social media, by email and in NDNA’s membership magazine and in national/local press and publicity.

Other nursery details are not disclosed outside of NDNA.

Your information and rights

You can request access to your personal information or correct or update out-of-date or inaccurate personal information we hold about you.

You can most easily do this by emailing us at privacy@ndna.org.uk.

We may reject requests that are unreasonable or not required by law, including those that would be extremely impractical, could require disproportionate technical effort, or could expose us to operational risks such as free trial fraud. We may retain information as required or permitted by data protection and electronic privacy regulations.
